April's Showers Brought Flowers

In April kids continued with their swim lessons and attended March of Dimes (March of Babies) fundraiser sponsored by Nicor. Maya received a monkey balloon that she enjoyed for about a couple of hours. Matthew and Nathan fought with the balloon swords. Matthew's first one blew in less than 10 minutes and he got another one that he kept for a few more minutes. Later on we all enjoyed some hot dogs and were happy that weather co-operated this year!

Kids' visit of the Brookfield Zoo

Kids enjoyed their visit with their grandparents at the Brookfield Zoo. It appears that Nathan had a nice nap that day! These pictures were taken on 3/2712.

Persian New Year in downtown Chicago

Our old friend Zoya visited us from VA and one Saturday morning, after confirming with Mina we visited her place that is not that far from the lake Michigan. This was Maya and Nathan's first visit of the lake since they began walking and boy did they enjoy themselves. They found different shapes of stones and kept some in their pockets to take home as souvenirs. They also found lots of garbage on the beach and helped out by taking them to a nearby garbage can. We then visited the park at Mina's place and kids played in the park with old fashioned toys. There we said goodbye to Mina and head down to downtown.
Parked our car and walked to the Millennium Park to see the Cloud Gate (Bean). Kids enjoyed it as much as we did and took a few pictures there. Then walked across the street to get some coffee, and there I met Malik who introduced himself as "The Hot Sauce Boss" and sold me three bottles of his hot sauce. I'm on my second bottle that has a hint of little lime, and honestly can say surprised me with its great quality. Matthew then asked for some popcorn and, so we all enjoyed different flavors of popcorn and walked to the Wacker Drive to enjoy some local artists and noticed that river taxis were in operation. We then head home and ordered some deep dish pizza from Giordano's.

Collecting Leaves

Weather was nice on Tuesday (about wit60s) and kids wanted to help me collect leaves in the backyard. I was able to collect a small amount, before they got hungry and wanted to eat lunch. While the Mac & Cheese was getting ready, we spent a little more time outside taking pictures while kids were able to make leave angels and had more fun throwing leaves in the air.

Three Rock Stars

Kids treated us to a special rock song that took lots of musician attitude and special skills to play different instruments. Nathan appeared to be the lead and counted to five each time to coordinate the effort. Matthew was the drummer as well as the lead singer. Maya played the piano and occassionally the xylophone.
